JOB DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Staff helps maintain a fully-functioning and clean community by ensuring the grounds, buildings, and equipment are kept in a safe condition. He or she reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and must be able to follow the Maintenance Manager’s instructions and community work orders. The Maintenance Staff should be able to recognize and implement basic repairs for the Community buildings and grounds. 



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents
  • Performs typical maintenance to support the entire facility
  • Detects and reports questionable conditions to the Facilities Director
  • Maintains and repairs walls, furniture, cabinets, windows, and doors/locks
  • Stocks maintenance supplies for work areas
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Responds to emergencies in an appropriate manner as per training received
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time walking/standing
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to physically perform the duties of the job
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two years of relevant experience preferred
  • Must have skills/experience in various maintenance-related trades, including, but not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and janitorial
  • Experienced in a wide variety of trade skills (carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical) and the tools associated with them
  • Must be familiar with and able to use all hand tools and power tools common to the associated trades
